“Islands and Sustainability: Attractiveness, Accessibility, Environmental Management and Development”

Lesvos Island, Greece, 18 - 19 May 2015

The University of the Aegean has been engaged within a process in order to reinforce the research on Insularity and Island's issues with several actions as:
-    The creation of a Repository on Insularity and Islands
-    The creation of an Atlas for Greek and European Islands
-    The creation of an international master on Islands Sustainable Development (IslDev) in collaboration with other European Universities and institutions
-    The active participation within the Network of Excellence for Insular Territories (RETI) connecting Insular Universities worldwide
-    The organization of the 14th Conference of ISISA on May 2016.

The Conference of the 18th and 19th of May 2015 is aiming to:
-    Present the progress already achieved concerning the Repository and the Atlas and discuss the use of these tools to support research and education
-    Present the project of the international master on Islands Sustainable Development and discuss with the partner institutions but also with others about its organization and its promotion worldwide
-    Prepare the organization of the ISISA Conference by exchanging ideas on its main Workshops:
(a)    Integrated Management and Development
(b)    Islands Identity and Development
(c)    Attractiveness and Accessibility
